It has been a crazy few weeks here at The Overweight Bookshelf headquarters. The office makeover is on its final legs and not without its share of drama (more on that in the reveal post). I am presently sitting in the kitchen because the carpet cleaners have just left and I am forbidden to tread on the wet tapis for two hours, aaaaand I just realized that my blog notebook is where? Yep, upstairs in my office. So you’re getting a fun filler post today that I saw on the lovely Renee’s blog this morning.
Question 1: How tall are you? 5’7
Question 2: Do you have a hidden talent? If so, what? I can cut my brother’s hair in that hipster way he wants. Oh, and finding out-of-print/sold-out books online for a steal.
Question 3: What’s your biggest blog-related pet peeve? People who steal your content and pass it off as their own. This just recently happened to me for the first time and it felt like a creative violation.
Question 4: What’s your biggest non-blog related pet peeve? Rudeness. Messiness. Slow people in the passing lane on the highway.
Question 5: What’s your favourite song? Of all time? “At Last” by Etta James. Du jour? “Like Real People Do” by Hozier.
Question 6: What’s your favourite Etsy shop that isn’t yours? Gah! I have a chronic Etsy addiction. I’m going through an art print phase, so any shop that specializes in that will catch my attention.
Question 7: What’s your favourite way to spend your free time when you’re alone? Driving to Fort Langley (otherwise in the world of television known as Storybrooke) and reading a book by the river at a local café.
Question 8: What’s your favourite junk food? Raisin Glosettes. They are nostalgia in a purple box.
Question 9: Do you have a pet or pets? If so, what kind and what are their names? I have an adorable cat named Noah. Noah is my snuggle buddy (in fact, he is presently impairing my ability to type with his head-butting) and he always knows when I’m sick, sad or upset. However, I can’t wait to buy my own house in a few years and get a Labrador Retriever. I already have a name picked out 😉 I’m certainly more of a dog person but we never had one growing up. I’m still bitter..Not…Well, okay, yea just a smidge.
Question 10: What are your number one favourite nonfiction and fiction books? Non-Fiction books: The unparalleled writings of CS Lewis and Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. Fiction: Jane Austen. Her timeless novels are like visiting old friends who are wittier and more entertaining each and every time.
Question 11: What’s your favourite beauty product? This is difficult, especially since I moonlight as a beauty blogger, but I’ll go with NARS Velvet Matte and Satin lip pencils.
Question 12: When were you last embarrassed? What happened? HA! This list is loooong and revealing. Most recently, two days ago when I tripped going UP the stairs (a particular talent of mine. Must add this to Question #2) at Anthropologie. Thankfully only one person saw me…this time.
Question 13: If you could only drink one beverage (besides water) for the rest of your life, what would it be? 49th Parallel coffee. Besides water, coffee and tea are the only beverages I drink on a regular basis. I grew up in a soda and juice free household, so I never really acquired the taste except for the occasional Ginger Ale and Cranberry juice.
Question 14: What’s your favourite movie? Confound it! Why are these questions so hard? This was supposed to be a fast filler post and now I’m using real brain power here 😉 I adore watching movies from the 40s and 50 and my favourite movie is a remake of Jimmy Stewart’s “The Shop Around the Corner.” If you guessed “You’ve Got Mail,” then you win brownie points.
Question 15: What were you in high school: prom queen, nerd, cheerleader, jock, valedictorian, band geek, loner, artist, prep? Confession: In Grade 8 I was captain of the Dance/Pep Squad. It was only by default because I had the most dance training of the auditionees–not that 7 years of classical ballet translates well to the gymnasium floor. I must point out that Canadian pep squads are very different from American cheerleading. We didn’t have pom-poms, didn’t wear our uniforms unless it was at a game, and weren’t allowed to do anything provocative. My sister thought it would help this introvert break out of her shell the first year of high school, but thankfully it only lasted 6 months (our school was not renowned for their athletic vigor). I was quite happy being the preppy bookworm and a valedictorian candidate.
Question 16: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? London or New York.
Question 17: PC or Mac? Mac. God bless teacher discounts or that wouldn’t have happened. Now the very thought of returning to a PC makes me panic.
Question 18: Last romantic gesture from a crush, date, boy/girlfriend, spouse? Not applicable.
Question 19: Favourite celebrity? Mindy Kaling. She has now become the voice in my head.
Question 20: What blogger do you secretly want be best friends with? Let me take this opportunity to say how absolutely incredible the book blogging community is. I also belong to other blogging communities but book bloggers are without a doubt the most welcoming, funny, generous and genuinely nice group of people. I love and adore all the women and authors who run my favourite blogs, but I have a particular soft spot for my precious INSPY ladies. They are an amazing support system and I am honoured to be on a team with such a collaborative and loving group of women.
I tag all my Inspy Ladies: Rel, Jamie, Stacy, Rissi. If you’ve already completed this survey, feel free to link below!
