It has been quiet on The Overweight Bookshelf for the past three weeks and, oh my, I have missed you!
As much as book bloggers live and breathe for the written word, sometimes we need to take a break from our niche to get perspective, recharge our passion and become reacquainted with our writing voice. For me this involved diving in to some non-fiction books to feed my soul (highly recommend Jesus is by Pastor Judah Smith and Undaunted by Christine Caine) and catch up on some fiction books that I have postponed due to my reviewing schedule.
At the same time, there have been some exciting bookish developments over the past few weeks.
- I went to Tacoma, Washington for the Women of Faith conference and saw the aforementioned writers speak in person. Powerful. I highly recommend watching some of their sermons online but keep a notebook handy!
- I became a book reviewer for Family Fiction Magazine!! My first review is in the November Edge issue (here) and my second on the website (here). This was a very unexpected and fast development, but I am beyond thrilled! I’m working on my December issue review right now.
- The Inspy Awards has added two new members to our Advisory Board. You probably already know Jamie and Rissi from their exceptional blogs, but if not shake a leg and get on over there!
There are a bunch of reviews coming at you this weekend. In the meantime, what have you been reading? Post your book recommendations below.
