About the Book
It’s a Battle of Wills … and Love Is on the Line!
Rural switchboard operator Georgie Gail is proud of her independence in a man’s world . . . which makes it twice as vexing when the telephone company sends a man to look over her shoulder.
Dashing Luke Palmer is more than he appears though. He’s a Texas Ranger working undercover to infiltrate a notorious gang of train robbers. Repairing telephones and tangling with this tempestuous woman is the last thing he wants to do. But when his stakeout puts Georgie in peril, he realizes more than his job is on the line.
It used to be that when I thought of men wearing overalls, the Green Acres theme song would play in my head. After reading this book, I think of a man in overalls and I hear birds chirping a sweet melody and get a tingling in my toes.
This book (as is typical of Deeanne’s stories) was an absolute joy to read! The definitive voice in the historical edgy inspirational romance, Deeanne takes the seemingly ordinary and turns it into the extraordinary. Humour, drama, and sizzling romantic tension-this story has it all! The gloriously descriptive nature of her writing gives you tunnel vision when you put the book down and have to return to reality because it is so easy to become absorbed in another time and place.
Every character has a history, purpose, and voice that would leave the book void if they were missing. Deeanne dares to give readers a hero that we can be mad at and dislike a little because she understands that a strong character is not a perfect character. Her heroines are frustratingly stubborn which leads to delicious conflict and hilarious scenarios that makes this story plot driven just as much as it is character driven.
A little birdie told me that you are going to love this book.
