About the Book
When Gabi and Lia finally learn to surf the river of time, they realize they must make hard choices about life and love in the third and final book in the River of Time series.
Gabi and Lia Betarrini have learned to control their time travel, and they return from medieval Italy to save their father from his tragic death in modern times. But love calls across the centuries, and the girls are determined to return forever—even though they know the Black Plague is advancing across Europe, claiming the lives of one-third of the population. In the suspenseful conclusion of the River of Time series, every decision is about life … and death.
I am approaching this review with the utmost care because I do not want to ruin a single moment for future readers. This story needs to be appreciated and experienced by you personally; any tidbits or crumbs I leave in this review would not be fair. So proceed with confidence!
I am not one to quote celebrities, but if ever there was a perfect Rachel Zoe “I die” moment, this is it. I’m a goner-completely done in with no hope of recovering. I feel like a have lost a dear friend now that the series is “over.” I am hopelessly in love with these characters, time period, setting, and plot. Just when you thought there was nothing left in Lisa’s arsenal of plot tricks to throw at these characters, she digs deeper and takes them farther to the point that has you (ok ok-me) screaming “Oh no you didn’t!!”.
Everything in this installment is more intense and riveting (not to diminish the genius quality of the previous two books). More than before, Gabi reveals her soul and innermost struggle to make a decision that will not only affect her life, but her family’s, and, possibly, even history. Her trials are profound and her revelations sincere, once again securing her place as one of my favourite heroines this year. Move over Bella Swan, there is a new courageous, intelligent, independent woman taking the YA genre by storm!
I am hoping and praying that Lisa will write more books in this series-perhaps pick up Lia and Luca’s story where it left off? Or someone else who shall remain nameless but other readers will know exactly who he may be? (hint hint, nudge nudge, Mr It’s-Good-To-Be-Bad).
