I have a quirk-I won’t watch a book-based movie without reading the book first. I like to get the real story from the author first before I watch a screenwriter’s adaptation or interpretation. And most of the time, the books and movies have glaring differences (ahem, Dear John by Nicholas Sparks). That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy movies that are based on books; on the contrary, I am a huge move junkie. Anywaaaays (now that I have gone around in a pointless circle), this weekend I bought three book that will soon have movies released in their honor.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett
Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
Sidenote: Do you like when publishers release books with movie actors on the cover and the original cover disappears from the shelves? I don’t. And it is for a purely vain and foolish reason…I don’t want to look like a person who buys a book because Robert Pattinson is on the cover. Wow, I’m just revealing all my quirks today, aren’t I?
