Have you ever had one of those bad days that can only be cured by a book? I had one of them today. Here is the thing about living on your own in a city across the country from your loved ones-there is no one to give you a hug when you storm through the doors with enough steam, well, steaming out of your ears to power a large locamotive. Desperately needing to shove a sock in the mouth of that nagging voice in my head, I picked up my current read and let the words wrap around me in a warm cocoon. Within minutes I was lost to another world where the characters thoughts became my thoughts, their wants became my wants, their dreams my dreams. When the last page was turned and the fog of the storyline cleared, I was in a significantly better mood than several hours prior. The house was still standing because I spent time curled on the couch instead of stomping around in frustration. I am going to call this bad day remedy “The Book Hug.”
